i used “twttr”:http://www.twttr.com to track my trip to california awhile back.

initially, i just used the tracking badge on my blog so that people would know where i was and know that if i didn’t check in after awhile, to call the troops in.

when i got back, the good folks over at twttr added an archive function to the site. this allowed me to grab all those entries and put them into a blog post. not that anyone is that interested now, but i thought it was a cool application of the technology.

i grabbed them off the website, and dumped them here. since they were in reverse order, i had to clean them up a bit (i used ‘tac’ for linux, as you would guess, it’s the opposite of ‘cat’).

anyway, here they are, in one long entry..

• bfe illinois.. Odo 408.. Getting food, gas… More red mule… There is a GIANT sign here that says “menards”… ARRRr
• St louis - odo 519 … Stopped to check map.
• Bfe missouri… Odo 596.. Was diggin on louis and clark awhile back.. Crossed the mississippi.. Did not find northwest passage
• Kansas city, mo.. Odo 754.. Next stop, wichita… I saw an adult book store on the road that advertised free popcorn.. I barfed in my mouth a little..
• Wichita, ks .. Mom and dad’s for the night.. Odo 956.. When theywrote america the beautiful, they weren’t kiddin.
• Wichita, ks.. Odo 000… En route to las cruces, nm… Had enchilada, tamales, and eggs and mom and dad’s.. America smells awesome outsidem
• Hinton, ok.. Odo 220.. Getting gas and a sonic burger.
• Bfe texas… Stopped to put on rain gear.. BIG storm.. Got my kickson route 66.
• Amarillo tx… Odo 448… Getting gas.. Survived storm.. Big hail in texas
• Abt 40 mi west of tucumcari, nm… Odo 590.. New mexico is likeriding in a painting.. Met some people from lima ohio.
• Moriarty, nm .. Odo. 599.. Sun going down.. Getting cold.. Getting gas on route 66.
• Truth or consequences, nm… Odo 891.. Lotta bugs out.. HUGE bugs..
• Las cruces… Odo 956… At uncle punky’s for the night..
• Las cruces, nm. Packing to go to breakfast.. Odo. 000.. Then i-10 to los angeles.. New mexico is beautiful in the morning.. Smells like desert.
• Bfe, arizona.. Odo 179.. Had green enchiladas in hutch, nm for breakfast.. Chile capitol of the world. Lots of roadrunners out here.. State bird.
• Bfen az… Odo. 362.. Second time in az tried to get gas.. They will not give change for gas if you go over.. Youi have to get $20 at a crack. Screw them.fag
• Blythe, ca.. Odo 578.. Ran into desert rain. Rode it commando style, cuz I’m a real man.
• Long beach, ca.. Odo 832.. That thing back there is called a desert.. You know why? Cuz its HOT!!!
• Santa paula, calif. Found my uncle paul’s grave on accident… He taught me how to listen to a great album. I think about him every time a needle hits vinyl

• Bfe utah.. Odo 634. Out of the desert. Tode through killer canyon in virgin river az. Had to stop and steetch. Ipod batteries last 600 mi.
• Richfield, ut.. Odo 767. Stopping for the night.
• Richfield, utah. Odo 000.. Worked LATE into the night on rrd stuff. Got a late start out this morning. The mountains are scary at night.
• Bfe utah.. Odo 155.. Rode through devil’s canyon.. The devil was not there. Getting gas .. Really hungry.
• Edawrads, colorado. Stopped to eat.. Finally! I am do hungry! Odo 360 something.. That pass in colorado was the BOMB
• Limon, coloriado. Odo 576.. Many more miles before I sleep
• Colby, ks. Odo 000. Last leg of journey. Listening to cathryn beeks
• Salina, ka. Odo 188.. Gas and breakfast .. Cold morning, I say
• St. Louis, mo. Odo 624.. 500 more miles! Almost home
• 40 mi east of indianapolis! Sleeping in my own bed tonight. I now understand why steinbeck, the beat poets, et al were such good writers

a friend and i were looking at the entry for the amityville horror on wikipedia and i started to wonder if i could find it on mapquest.. lo and behold, you can! i would just give you the link, but there is a problem with it. for whatever reason, b2evolution hates the link, so go to:

anyway, i started to wonder how far away the house is from my house. hell, if i knew someone near the house, i would ride out there, and spend the night. for those curious types, it’s a little over 500 miles.. not too far..

then, i remembered that you can zoom in in satellite mode to get a better view.. lo and behold, i THINK i found the house!

is there someone out there that can verify that this is in fact the amityville horror house?

a friend of mine, wende, turned me on to this movie.

i checked it out tonight, and it wsa really good. it wasn’t until after i saw the movie that i read the reviews.

there were a few problems with the movie (i won’t go into it, as it might be a spoiler) that forced me to conclude that it wasn’t on the up and up.

i think, as all good movies are, that this was just a made up story. i am totally not convinced that this is a factual account, but a story, put on film. sort of like the blair witch project.

sure, there were a ton of people who lost their minds when they found out that the blair witch project really didn’t happen, but that’s the trick. it’s a movie.

if watched with that in mind, it’s a good netflixer… meaning: get it on netflix, don’t buy it..

but it’s worth a watch..

this is rosegarden.. when i get a second, i installing this on my current fc3 machine. the only thing i am not really sure of is if i can find an rpm for fc3. i will look around a bit and see what happens. a bit of background. i was a HUGE cubase fan.. and was in love with vst.. but other things (playing real live drums in a band) came up, and i was diverted for like ten years.. but now, i am back.

i suppose i could do all this on OSX (my os of choice), but using linux just adds the nerd factor into the whole thing. the nerd factor holds alot of weight in my book.
